LAMINATED GLASS

This tough, resilient glass consists of a tough plastic interlayer made of polyvinyl butyral (PVB) bonded together between two panes of glass under heat and pressure. Once sealed together, the glass ‘sandwich’ behaves as a single aesthetic unit with the combined advantage of safety, security and sound control.
Benefits of laminated glass include;
• Penetration Resistance -Significantly more difficult for criminals to break through
• Safety- If glass is shattered, the fragments will adhere to the PVB layer, giving the characteristic spider web cracking pattern across the glass and reduces the risk of personal injury and property damage
• Sound Reduction- Effective sound control up to 40dB due to damping performance of PVB
• Ultraviolet Screening-Helps protect valuable furniture, displays or merchandise from the harmful effects of UV radiation
Laminated glass is used extensively in building and housing products and in the automotive industries. Most building façades and most car windscreens, for example, are made with laminated glass, usually with other technologies also incorporated.
